Keyboardist James Lloyd founded the Band “Pieces of a Dream” with his friends, bassist Cedric Napoleon, and drummer Curtis Harmon, in 1975 when they were all teenagers. The trio became internationally known when they started working with Grover Washington Jr. James was only a senior in high school when their first album was released. Fast-forward 38 years and 20 albums later under his belt with Pieces, Lloyd has written and/or produced songs for many other artists, eg. Wayman Tisdale, Najee, Walter Beasley, Eric Darius, Nick Colionne and Everette Harp. In addition, he has recorded/worked with Eddie Murphy, James Brown, David Sanborn, just to name a few, and opened for great names such as Earth, Wind and Fire, Nancy Wilson, Dionne Warwick or Miles Davis. Two of Lloyds songs climbed to #1 on different Smooth Jazz charts. Other highlights of his career include Album of the Year for “Love’s Silhouette” (2003, AFIM Indie Awards) and International Group of the Year (2010, Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards). In 2015, James released his first solo CD.
